A. “Is it just bees?”
“Is it just bees?” was my major work back in HSC. With this in mind I focused on the plight of bee populations worldwide to be a part of the media we all consume which continuously reminds us of the collapse of the world’s ecosystems. Using watercolours I illustrated a triptych of panels, each having fewer and fewer bees than the last. Through illustrating solely bees, while mundane it more often than not makes the viewer ask the question with multiple answers, “Is it just bees?”
B. Cloud Forest Dome
The architecture
within Singapore's Gardens by the Bay was able to quickly snatch my interest during my trip there. More
specifically the Cloud Forest dome was inspiring to me, a joint piece by
Wilkinson Eyre Architects and landscape architects Grant Associates. Outside it
is a shell-shaped greenhouse and inside is a 30-meter-high waterfall (as
pictured). The scale and concept fascinated me, making me wonder about the
architecture and technology that went into accommodating the flora and waterfall around a 6-floor structure, inside which presents an educative adventure for those who pass through.
c. Sunrise at Haneda Airport
This is the photo of the very first sight I experienced waking out of Haneda airport towards the monorail at 6am. The warm glows against the buildings and the sharp reflection of the sky and sea along the glass were just beautiful to me.
