HERO SHOT
I considered what a building holding a studio for BarnabeiFreeman and Off-white would mean; it would be highly designed and exclusive with strong ties to the natural world. This hero shot captures this as the architecture becomes a peak echoing the surrounding mountain scape naturalising the strong curves and grand size. Furthermore, the landscape creeps up and around the architecture, giving root to the aerated structure. Glass and open space is a predominant part of the structure's materiality as BarnabeiFreeman's rug recalls a strong connection to the natural world and OffWhite's bag demands a grand backdrop. This hero shot allows both stairs to be seen, showcasing how both stairs remain a significant aspect of the architecture. The sleek marble staircases contrast against the harsher stone landscape, suggesting the polished product within.
DETAIL SHOT
Defining this architecture is the use of curvature and open space which this shot focuses upon. The shot hones in on the upper studio where coverings were designed to hover above the custom designed tables so to provide shade mid-day. In this image, the way the sun would interplay with the various curved forms is highlighted. Open glass allows the sun to interact with the dome's framing, the workspace and staircases to create elaborate shadows which dance in the space throughout the day. The shot shows the custom texture "original" supporting the forms of the space as well as creating a distinctive finishing touch upon the space.
